This is my favourite Ranco shades of all the ones I stock... I almost didn't list them for sale! This is a very mottled colour, much more than the other colourways, with maroon mixing with a dusky purple throughout the skein, with very little distinction between the two.
Ranco is a semi-tonal sock yarn in 75% non-superwash sheep wool and 25% nylon. The colours shift subtly over considerable lengths, giving vanilla socks a gentle stripe, but also won't obscure more complicated stitches like cables or lace. The long colourways also make this a great yarn for crochet!
The pre-blocked yarn is a little on the scratchy side, but it blocks out into a gorgeous softness that you will love having next to your skin. As this yarn has a tendency to felt gentle handwashing in cold water is recommended.
Like all Araucania yarns, Ranco is hand-dyed and even skeins from the same dyelot can have variations in colour. If you're making a project that requires more than one skein alternating between skeins every few rows is recommended.
This yarn has been discontinued, please keep this in mind if ordering for a specific project.
Fibre: 75% wool, 25% nylon
Recommended needle: 3 (US), 3.25mm
These are the recommended instructions, but experience has shown that this is a little rough for this yarn and will lead to felting. Hand washing in cold water is strongly recommended.
Gentle machine wash in cool water and mild soap. Wash similar colours separately. Dry flat, do not sun dry, soak, spin or tumble.
Low iron, do not bleech, dry clean any solvent except trichlo-ethylene.
